Guest guest
Hi folks, I have a patient who is coming in for neck pain, which I have diagnosed as Wind Cold Damp Bi. She also exhibits signs of Damp Heat in the Lower Jiao - recurring itching of the labia (always in the same spot, and continuous thick, creamy-colored vaginal discharge. My qustion is can these be treated simultaneously herbally? Will the Wind Cold Damp Bi herbs (if I guide them to the Du channel using, say, gao ben) go to the neck, and the clear Damp Heat herbs go to the Lower Jiao (if I guide them using, say, huang bai)? Or will the different temperatures of the herbs just cancel each other out, and I'd be better off treating the pain solely with acu and moxa, and the itching with herbs? Tongue is dusky pink and slightly toothmarked, dirty yellow coat at the root (patient also brushes tongue). Pulse is thin and slighly wiry, 70BPM. Also, another case - is it possible to drain and astringe at the same time? For instance using the draining herbs from jin gui shen qi wan and adding wu wei zi and jin ying zi to astringe Lu Qi and address chronic post nasal drip? Thanks, Elijah
Guest guest
Hi, Im not as experienced as many others on this forum, so I would be interested to hear what others have to say, but personally I would be inclined to treat the neck pain with acupuncture and moxa etc and to prescribe herbs for the leukorrhoea, at least at first. As Bi syndrome doesnt tend to go anywhere in a hurry, so you can always prescribe herbs for it after the lower jiao tx. Also keep in mind that you can prescribe herbs externally for the discharge in the form of a sitz bath. Mind you, you also have to keep in mind what the patient is actually coming to you for treatment for, and if that is neck pain first and foremost, I guess that needs to guide your treatment too. Also, what is the age of your patient? , " elileee " <spyche wrote: > > Hi folks, > I have a patient who is coming in for neck pain, which I have > diagnosed as Wind Cold Damp Bi. Guest guest
Thank you so much for your reply. Your thoughts are the same as mine, i am treating the neck pain (her primary complaint, although she wants to be treated for the itching as well)with acu and moxa, and have prescribed topical herbs for the itching. The patient is not yet willing to take herbs orally, mostly due to the expense ( I made her a very cheap topical formula). The patient is a 24 y.o. female, history of neck trauma (7 auto accidents). Any one else have ideas on whether or not these two conditions COULD be treated simultaneously with herbs? , " leabun1 " <leabun1 wrote: > > Hi, Im not as experienced as many others on this forum, so I would > be interested to hear what others have to say, but personally I > would be inclined to treat the neck pain with acupuncture and moxa > etc and to prescribe herbs for the leukorrhoea, at least at first. > As Bi syndrome doesnt tend to go anywhere in a hurry, so you can > always prescribe herbs for it after the lower jiao tx.
