IVAS teachers (at least up to 10 years ago) usually taught that high

doses of steroids block AP effects, at least partially.

I doubt if this is true, however, as several vet acupuncturists that I know

dispute that claim. They do not try to wean the animal off the steroids;

instead they ignore them and treat with AP as usual. They claim goood

results.

Indeed, some vets inject steroids into the acupoints!

I have little personal experience of treating animals concurrently on

steroids (prescribed by another practitioner) but the few that I did treat

with AP seemed to respond as well as those that were not on steroids.

Best regards,

This patient is also on chemotherapy and opiate analgesics, but I'm still

confident that acupuncture will have some effect. It will be a challenge,

though, with all those drugs and their varying actions. By the way, what is

IVAS?
