Guest guest
I purchased Zhu-jie Shang-han Lun (Noted and Explained Shang-han Lun, 1140?) by Cheng Wu-ji, which is supposed to be one of the most popular texts of the Shag-han Lun in China, and checked about Ge-gen Tang. I found that I was wrong to have told you Cheng considered Ge-gen Tang belongs to the Shang-han formula group. Cheng says in his note on Ge-gen Tang as follows: gWhen in greater yang disease [there is] stretched stiff nape and back, but also sweating and aversion to wind, it is wind strike exterior vacuity (zhong feng biao xu). When [there is] stretched stiff nape and back, without sweating and aversion to wind, it is wind strike exterior repletion (zhong feng biao shi). Exterior vacuity should be treated by resolving the fresh (jie ji) and exterior repletion should be treated by sweating (fa han). Thus, Ge-gen Tang sweats this condition.h
