Guest guest
Just to look at the whole translation thing from a more political/relationships point of view, I have often heard that Dan Bensky and Nigel Wiseman are protagonists and key figures in the debate. It would be good if they could sit down and work together, as it is clear that misinterpretation of the different " sides " is a major factor in keeping them in an antagonistic relationship. This is despite the fact that, I would guess, they are more or less in consensus in terms of their criticism of over-biomedicalisation. Has this already been attempted? How did it go/why not? -Li -- Knowing ignorance is strength; ignoring knowledge is sickness. -Tao te ching
Guest guest
Dan and Nigel have already collaborated on trying to get coherent English names for Chinese medicinals. I personally think that too much is made of the antagonism these days. . . and you are right, they are in consensus about several things. But as personalities, they are chalk and cheese, and Nigel is purely a translator and liguist, while Dan is a clinician, educator as well as translator.
