Guest guest
Hi everyone, Does anyone have experience treating MS with Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang. I have a 50 year old male, diagnosed 10 years ago. Condition slowly worsening wiout remission periods. Some wasting in upper body, but mostly balance problems and problems walking because leg weakness. Very thin legs. Numbness and tingling in fingers and toes. Some loss of bladder function. Thin deep rapid wiry pulse. Tongue slightly swollen, red dry. He is not taking any western drugs. Neurologist wants to put him on interferon drug but he has committed to 3 moths working with me to see if he gets positive results before. He had a weird case of measles at age 20. I was looking at Immortal Qi from Blue Poppy: Huang Qi (Radix Astragali) Hong Jing Tian (Radix Rhodiolae Roseae) Chuan Xiong (Rhizoma Chuanxiong) Mai Men Dong (Tuber Ophiopogonis) Wu Wei Zi (Fructus Schisandrae) Dong Chong Xia Cao (Cordyceps Chinensis mycellium) Tai Zi Shen (Radix Pseudostellariae) Bai Zhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae) Dang Gui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis) Man Jing Zi (Fructus Viticis) Sheng Jiang (uncooked Rhizoma Zingiberis) mix-fried Gan Cao (Radix Glycyrrhizae) Sheng Ma (Rhizoma Cimicifugae) Chai Hu (Radix Bupleuri) But I am not sure about using herbs that strengthen inmunity like Huang Qi and Dong Chong Xia Cao in a case of autoimmune disorder. I'll appreaciate your wisdom. Thanks Ferran
Guest guest
Why are you thinking Bu Zhong here? In some ways there may be more Yin xu, zhi Bai di huang wan, with the thin, wiry rapid pulse, the red dry tongue. That's just looking at it from here. I assume you've seen: http://www.itmonline.org/arts/ms & tcm.htm doug , " Enzo Blasco " <zoilander wrote: > > Hi everyone, > > Does anyone have experience treating MS with Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang. > > I have a 50 year old male, diagnosed 10 years ago. Guest guest
Enzo, If the formula matches the pattern, that's what counts. By that I mean the formula matches the patient's presenting patterns and the ingredients match the patient's presenting symptoms. If fatigue is a part of the symptom-sign pictures, as it usually is in MS, then Huang Qi is ok and used routinely in China for this condition regardless of its ability to strengthen the immune system and that this is an autoimmune disease. Think of it more as an adaptogen, or don't think about it in Western medical terms at all. Guest guest
Doug and Bob, thanks for your replies. I did think of something more along Zhi Bai Di, but he seems more qi xu and weak than yin xu. I felt Immortal Qi fits him pretty well. I'll try and see how he does. Doug, thanks also for the link.
