Guest guest
Hi Thomas, Though I haven't come across mumps personally, I recall from my notes as a student that the formula Pu Ji Xiao Du Yin is the indicated formula for da tou wen bing (major warm febrile disease affecting the head. To quote my prof. Dr. Zhang Ji , " This formula was created for the 'big head warm febrile disease' --which is for a very severe infection around the head, and also for such diseases a mumps(a viral infection with swollen cheeks and high fever). This formula usually produces a very good result, but it is important to maintain a constant blood level of the herbs so that there is always a sufficient supply of herbs in the bloodstream to fight and kill the toxic pathogen. Therefore, for example, the patient may be given 2 packs for one day, divided into four doses and taken every six hours like a Western antibiotic. " Hope this has been helpful, Yehuda wrote: All, Appearantly there has been an outbreak of mumps in Wisconsin. Has anyone out there treated this before, or even seen it. Guest guest
I read about that too. Even without pattern differentiation, I¹d look towards Qiang lan tang and flesh it our from there. -- Cara O. Frank, R.Ac, Dipl Ac & Ch.H.
