Guest guest
Actually, you are right that " funny " things happened in 1960 as well. I don't know if you are aware of it, but the key to JFK's victory was the swing state of Illinois, which he won by a threadbare 3,000 votes. Well, some of you may recall that one of the last great political machines where favors and elections could be bought and sold was run by Mayor Richard J. Daley (of the '68 Chicago Democratic convention fame), the father of the current mayor. Mayor Daley was a hardcore democrat, and the Kennedy's represented major democratic party money. Does something smell fishy? (What goes around comes around, don't it?) What if.... --- snakeoil.works wrote: > hehheh. > What a long strange trip it's been. > ann > > > no, since 1960 > > ed > > > Sat Jun 3, 2006 11:53 pm (PDT) > " snakeoil.works " > snakeoil.works > Re: Was the 2004 Election Stolen? > > > You mean since 2000, don't you? > > ann > > > ---------- > > > > Version: 7.1.394 / Virus Database: 268.8.2/356 - > Release 6/5/06 > > > [Non-text portions of this message have been > removed] > >
Guest guest
Hey, what's up with the new formatting? I don't like it. It was a heck of a job to erase all the extraneous junk before replying to this. Even changed the font, then back again while I was doing it. Sometimes computers are harder to understand than politics. Speaking of which, Wikipedia has JFK's vote margin at 8,000. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_J._Daley But then there's http://chicago.about.com/od/government/a/102505_kennedy.htm --Could JFK have won the 1960 election without Daley? citing Laura Enright's new book saying, yes, probably, but offering a perhaps still darker turn. Guest guest
I stand corrected, however, a margin of ~8,000 votes out of nearly 5,000,000 cast, with with Daley pulling strings and owing the Kennedy's favors is more than just a little suspicious. There is no way we can now ascertain what actually came down, but " you didn't need a weatherman to know which way the Chicago wind blew " during the Daley years--a new take on " xie feng?
