Guest guest
Hi there, I have a 6 year old son who was diagnosed with ADD (not ADHD) 3 years ago. It is true that he does have a hard time focusing and any little distraction will throw him off task. I am open minded to medication, but not until it is absolutely necessary for him to learn and focus in school. Some things that have been beneficial for us so far include holding him back 1 year to start him in kindergarten, I enrolled him in a free ECI (early childhood intervention) class where the teachers focused on his speech skills and went over the kindergarten course, but it was a smaller group and karate/tae kwon do. This helped him to focus and gave him a sense of pride/self esteem. The karate may be something you want to try with your teenager if you haven't already. Quite a few of my friends with boys also have had their sons diagnosed with ADD. I think our society tries too hard to make every child learn the same way. You may want to check out and see if he has any allergies- I believe that getting the proper vitamins and nutrition variety through foods and supplements are important. I recall something about the ability to focus and Omega 3 fatty acids.

Guest guest
My friend has 2 kids with ADHD. Focusing is a big problem for them She puts a dab of lemon essential oil on their shirt collars before they go to school. She has noticed an improvement in their focus and attitude.
