Guest guest
It is with great sadness that I share with you the passing of my colleague, author Katherine Martin. I met Katherine through one of her close friends (and my employee) when we had our shop in Seattle. Katherine delighted in book signings in our shop (an honor since most of her appearances were at Barnes & Noble and much larger venues). She was especially encouraging to my work and others like me and championed our endeavors to seek more organic answers for the future. While her message wasn't specific to herbalism or aromatherapy, it resonated with me, honoring the courage and spirit of many women, as we seek to understand ourselves and seemed ultimately appropriate to our connection to the plants of the earth. I carried her books and often had customers tell me of their appreciation for her message and acknowledgement of the spirit of the average person, expressing how this message had helped them find their own courage under difficult circumstances. Katherine succumbed to a long battle with cancer last Saturday. She leaves us with gracious words of encouragement in all her books, which I know will serve for generations to uplift our spirits and give us hope and courage to carry on. Katherine lived and worked from her home in Portland, OR.
