Guest guest
Hi Evelyn, They are cool looking plants, especially in tropical landscapes! But, if one has little kids its not so wise to have them around - ya know, the whole accidental ingestion and so little is damaging thing ... Similarly, lots of folks here grow oleander cause it gets big and has lots of pretty flowers, but its the same sort of scenario. I had a friend in Denver, CO who grew the most beautiful datura, but I can't grow these things right now with my kids being as small as they are. When they are older, I'd love to grow some of these more " deadly beauties " . *Smile* Chris (list mom) Concentrated Handmade Liquid Soaps All Natural, Perfect For The Body & Home <http://www.alittleolfactory.com/liquidsoapbase.htm> http://www.alittleolfactory.com/liquidsoapbase.htm On Behalf Of Evelyn Millican What would you use these for. OK I need to know will the Castor Beans grow in the 2A zone or are my summers too short for it. I can remember them growing in Toronto Ontario but have not seen them otherwise. And of course I do not know if they were growing them as an annual but I thought they said it was a perenial or maybe they meant that they reseed themselves. I had an Oleander once. It broke my heart as I tried desperately to stop the scabbies from killing it. But it evenutally did die. The flowers were so fragrant on it. Well maybe I start growing another one someday. Thanks for the memories Barbara
Guest guest
we grow it here in Monroe, not far from you, with no problem except our season is too short for the plant to set seeds (or DH planted them too late for seeds) and the plant was well over 10 feet tall. The base of the stalks was nearly 2 " across, some may have been a little more Paula .......... in Michigan I used to have super powers but my therapist took them away OK I need to know will the Castor Beans grow in the 2A zone or are my summers too short for it.
