snip< things like the

seat being left up or down, >

You know, I have always wondered

what was the big deal about that seat thing

anyhow? It takes how long to put it down??

It actually takes more energy to put it up,

so maybe the guys should be the ones bitching.

It isn't the effort it takes to put it down, it's not realizing in the

middle of the night, in the dark, that it is up. That water is VERY cold..

.....lol

Besides, it's the height of bad manners to leave not only the toilet seat

up, but also the lid. At least that's what me mum taught me, and she could

teach " Miss Manners " a few things. ;-)

One of the few things she managed to drum into me... she had a very poor

student here! LOL!

In my family (and, fortunately also in my boyfriend's) everyone was

taught to both a) make sure everything was flushed and away, AND b)

close the lid. That way no gross surprises, and no wet bottoms for

anyone (cuz sometimes guys gotta sit, too!). Oh, and no free drinks

for the pets, either.

Anyone remember that Seinfeld episode where he knocked his

girlfriend-of-the-day's toothbrush into her toilet and didn't tell

her so she used it? Ewwww!

It's also good Feng Shui to close the lid.

How you ask? Chi is attracted to water, we know that

right? Therefore chi is attracted to the open bowl of

water in a bathroom. You sure don't want to " flush "

away all that good chi - so always - always shut the

lid!!!!

Oh of course , the lid.

I grew up in a European house, where

the toilet is in a separate cubicle, and the

bathroom is a different entity all together.

Toilets did not have lids.

The first time I saw an American style

bathroom was in a suburb of Madrid, Spain,

where a friend of ours lived at the time.

It had been built to house Americans who

worked at the air base in Torregon.

I thought having the toilet in the same place

as the bathtub was pretty gross.

Then we went to visit an American couple,

and I thought I'd die laughing at the sight

of a toilet seat covered with lavender plush.

If I ever build my own home, it would

have the toilet separate too.

Oh how interesting... when we were apartment hunting in San

Francisco, we eventually just stopped looking at Victorian style

buildings... beyond all the other problems with Victorian

architecture, most of them had split bathrooms, and none of us were

willing to deal with that <laugh>. Different perspectives, I guess.
