Amazing coup on Arctander's book on Natural Aromatics!

A little background: many of us that practice natural perfumery lust after

a book commonly known as the " Bible " in our art: Arctander's " Perfume and

Flavor Materials of Natural Origin " . It is sold through only one outlet,

Allured Publishing, and they cobble it together with Arctander's " Chemical "

books (as we call them, and have no use for them ;-) and the price is a

hefty $900 or so. Thus, the book was out of reach for many of us. For those

of you on Chris' list who may have heard of this book, and wish to obtain

it, read the amazing story below. There is some advantage to have a huge

group, as David, a rather new member, showed us. I'm going to take a lesson

from his methods!

 

Here's what David negotiated:

 

Since the end of December, I have been emailing the Books Manager at

Allured Publishing trying to convince her to sell Steffen

Arctander's " Perfume and Flavor Materials of Natural Origin "

separately from his " Chemical " books. I informed her about our

Group and told her of the many natural perfumers who would be

interested in purchasing a copy from Allured. After a lot of

salesmanship on my part, she has finally agreed to sell the " Natural

Origin " book separately beginning in early February. Allured will

put this up on their website in early February.

www.allured.com/bookstore The price is $349. Only the book will be

available. They cannot separate the the " Natural Origin " from the

two " Chemical " books on the CD-ROM. However, this offer for

the " Natural Origin " book will be available for only a limited time

of three to four months. I'm sure she wants to see how much her

sales increase from this special offer. I strongly advise all

natural perfumers desiring a copy to take advantage of this unique

opportunity! This extremely rare book will cost at least $1,000

from a used bookstore when you can find one. I hope others besides

me will purchase it or Allured will certainly go back to selling all

three books for $900. Also, if this works out well for Allured,

future natural perfumers will have access to their own, new copy at

a good price.

We have many members on this group, also, including Sally, who heck, I

think joined almost at the start. Chris, a note to you: this great group is

huge and vibrant, also, and maybe we can use David's example as a way to

conduct business in the future. Perhaps there are some books or products

that would be of specific interest to oils_herbs folk and you'll only find

out by trying if you can get a deal like this!
