Recycling *priority mail

I just wanted to get a few facts straight.

First of all, when I suggested turning a priority mail box (or any other)

inside out,

it was *after* it had been used. I would never suggest something illegal,

immoral, etc..

Second of all, before some of you get your pantys in a bunch over the

whole issue of

what is legal, why not just ask your local postmaster and skip all the

assumptions?

I did. This is what I was told today-

I asked if RECYCLING (turning inside out or covering with brown paper) a

used priority

mail box to send first class mail was illegal. I was told that once a

priority box has been

postmarked, he did not see any problem with using it again for another

type of shipment.

Someone stated that you couldn't mail a package that was wrapped in

paper. Yes, you can!

As a matter of fact, they sell the brown paper rolls at the post

office!!!

I sell a lot of stuff on ebay and choose to re-use my boxes instead of

charging handling fees

or throwing them out. That is important to me. I was trying to suggest an

option for someone,

not start a controversy over the legalities.

Please get your facts straight before accusing someone of doing something

illegal!!

Sheesh! I didn't know trying to save a few trees would be so difficult! ;

Well, actually, I wanted to keep it light hearted. That is why I

refrained

from suggesting recycling paper shopping bags (inside out) to wrap your

ill-gotten

usps boxes, but I was afraid I might get attacked by a bunch of

Piggly-Wiggly activists!!

(who really doesn't mean to be offensive to anyone : )
