Guest guest
Off topic, but i thought i would find some enlightening people here. Can anyone here enlighten me on something called Humility, how does it manifest itself in your life, or the lives of those around you, can we humans seek to learn it if for some reason we dont experience it though our lives? If so, how do we go about learning this? J
Guest guest
I am not sure this is a particularly good forum to be discussing such a profoundly philosophical topic. I am not even sure I know - but I believe humility may be the opposite of pride. One way to test this theory is to do good deeds whenever you have the opportunity and then not mention that you did them. See how the ego reacts. Guest guest
I just take a look at one of the magnificent creatures in this world like a hippopotimus or an elephant and I get instantly humbled. The creator of that animal is much greater than I. Being in a relationship also humbles me. I realize my own arrogance, inability to communicate lovingly and lots of other things I'd rather not know about myself. That makes me humble. It seems like if a person lives long enough, it eventually happens. But it is a wonderful question. Thanks for asking. Guest guest
Hey Jonathan, Personally, I think this is a good question for all people to ponder. Thanks for posing it. To me, expressing myself from a place of humility is the opposite of expressing myself from ego. It's a moment by moment practice and, since like most of us here, I'm still in a human body (ego) I sometimes fail at it miserably. Other times, I amaze even myself with acts of humility. Which feels better in my being? Which brings me joy and peace? Why, HUMILITY of course! Each holds pearls of wisdom. Michelle
Guest guest
Looking at a newborn child makes me feel very humble. When you think of the incredible gift that we have been given in such a very small package it almost brings me to my knees. Such responsibility, such trust in those eyes that can almost see inside your soul. At least that's what it does for me. Guest guest
Good question, wrong forum. My personal feeling about people who are excessively concerned about humility is that they have huge spiritual pretensions with egos to match. The truly humble don't feel the need to go on about humility. As for me, I am enjoying this Earth dimension, and am not really looking for enlightenment just yet. If the limelight of attention and approval occasionally falls on me, I shall unabashedly bask in it, ego and all. Ien in the Kootenays ************************* " Never mind what the book says.
