Guest guest
Have any of you treated strep with oils? Or used then to help kill the infection. My dd was diagnosed with strep yesterday. She seem sto be doing good she had a low grade fever but that is gone now her throat is pretty red but she is in good spirits. I have been using HOmeopathy for it and I am trying to hold off on the antibioitcs for atleast today. I read you fight strep better if you can wait 48 hr before treating it. The risk of side effects from the meds scare me to death. ALl the talk of antibiotic resistant and all that is terrible. I was thinking letting her smell Oregnao oil any other advice. amy
Guest guest
My 22 yo son was diagnosed last week with mono and strep -- 2 different tests done several days apart. His throat was so swollen he could not swallow his saliva. He started antibiotics for the strep and was feeling better within 24 hrs. The mono continues but he says he can live with that! I take oregano regularly and haven't become ill in a long time. My family hates the smell and taste of it --- but like it in food. Guest guest
Hi Amy, I thought I would give you my strep story. Two years ago, my son and I seemed to constantly have strep. That winter I had it 5 times and he had it 6. I was on every antibiotic you could imagine. Either it became resistant or I just couldn't get rid of it. In March I had been on antibiotics for almost 4 weeks. So, I tossed the antibiotics out and started taking oregano oil. 3 times a day for a week. I got better and have not had strep since. My son stayed on antibiotics and has had it a few times in the past 2 years. I did not mess around with him because he had it so bad that the doctor warned me that untreated strep could lead to serious health problems (including death). At that time I did not feel comfortable taking him off the antibiotics and giving him oregano. Now, I wouldn't hesitate. As far as waiting 48 hours, I have never heard of that. In my experience, if I wasn't on antibiotics within 2 days I would be in severe pain, unable to swallow, and a few times I thought I wasn't going to be able to breathe. When someone in my family comes down with a sore throat I have them alternate gargling with salt water and water with 2 drops of tea tree oil. If it doesn't get better, the next step would be oregano. Meanwhile I diffuse eucalyptus. This seems to do it for us! Laura BTW, I would not suggest ingestion to anyone, I am just sharing what has worked for me. I share your feelings about antibiotics. My pediatrician calls me the poster mom for anti-antibiotics! But there are times when the benefits out way the risks. On Wed, 1 Feb 2006 09:14:00 -0500 " mike and amy haskett " <mikeandamy writes: > Have any of you treated strep with oils? Hi Amy, I am glad to hear things aren't regressing. I have treated my family for strep without the use of anti-biotics. I make a strong infusion of either Thyme or Sage (1 tsp of dried herb per 8 ounce of purified water, bring water to boil remove from heat and add herb, cover and let infuse for 20 minutes), whichever I have on hand, and make them gargle with half of the infusion every couple of hours, and add local raw honey to the remainder and have them sip it over the next couple of hours. Works like a charm. Sometimes strep presents itself without a fever, but when fever is present, I just apply a cold washcloth to the head, replacing when it gets warm. The body produces fever for a reason, it helps to kill the pathogens. Artificially lowering a fever with chemicals such as aceteminophen (Tylenol) just prolongs the infection (as well as causes liver toxicity). I hope this helps and will say a prayer for your daughter. Warm regards, Lori
Guest guest
I have 1/2 dropper of Butch's oregano hydrosol twice a day in my water. I honestly think that is what has kept me from getting sick.
