Guest guest
Hi Laura, Amy .. other good folks .. > Hi Amy, > I thought I would give you my strep story. > Two years ago, my son and I seemed to constantly have strep. > That winter I had it 5 times and he had it 6. Likely it is that both or you had it but once .. 5 or 6 times. This holds true for sinus infections too .. some folks have one over and over for years. > I was on every antibiotic you could imagine. Yep .. and if the antibiotic does kick the Big Bad Bug Butts a few of them are likely to survive and they are then maybe immune to that drug. > Either it became resistant or I just couldn't get rid of it. Might be a combination of the two .. with a chicken or the egg effect. > In March I had been on antibiotics for almost 4 weeks. So, I tossed > the antibiotics out and started taking oregano oil. 3 times a day for > a week. I got better and have not had strep since. Good it is and not surprising either. The genus Streptococcus is comprised of a wide variety of Big Bad Bug Critters .. bacterial. There http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Streptococcus There is also a Streptococcus Pneumonia .. back a few years ago it was reported in This is from InteliHealth .. from Harvard Medical School's Consumer Information Service, that Oregano had destroyed Streptococcus Pneumonia in lab experiments. Basically .. it said: " ATLANTA (Reuters) -- In several new experiments, researchers have found that some essential oils -- in particular, those derived from oregano, thyme and rosewood -- create a lytic reaction (cell death/disruption) in microorganisms, including Streptococcus pneumonia. " UNQUOTE I have some other references on Origanums and Strep .. but they are in my old broken PC and I still can't get crap out of that danged machine. I can give a personal testimonial .. I have not taken an Over The Counter or Prescription medication in better than 10 years now .. and I do get an occasional bug .. rarely but it happens .. and when it happens I have been able to kick their Big Bad Bug Butts in 18-24 hours. Folks who have been around a while know my feelings about the Origanums .. I think there is no more powerful medicine in nature. And its NOT just Origanum vulgare .. many outfits are springing up now as copy cats from one dude who claims to be selling " Mountain Grown " Origanum vulgare. Don't believe all that marketing hype .. for a fact I know it is NOT all Origanum vulgare and little of it is mountain grown .. though it matters not in the second place. Its the Carvacrol rich Origanums we want .. any of them will do the same thing. They are: Origanum dubium, type Carvacrol Origanum onites Origanum vulgare Carvacrol content should be at LEAST 60% .. less is not better. Additionally .. I had a friend here who had constant problems with Strep Throat .. for years. She was always on one or another antibiotic and being a hard head .. she refused to try Origanum. Finally, she gave in and tried it. Inside 48 hours she was well and to date .. she has not had another problem with Strep .. this has been better than 2 years now. > My son stayed on antibiotics and has had it a few times in the past > 2 years. I did not mess around with him because he had it so bad that > the doctor warned me that untreated strep could lead to serious health > problems (including death). At that time I did not feel comfortable > taking him off the antibiotics and giving him oregano. Understandable. But there is no conflict .. no contraindication when one takes both. Origanum is in fact a pro biotic. > Now, I wouldn't hesitate. Nor would I. > As far as waiting 48 hours, I have never heard of that. In my experience, > if I wasn't on antibiotics within 2 days I would be in severe pain, unable > to swallow, and a few times I thought I wasn't going to be able to breathe. > When someone in my family comes down with a sore throat I have them > alternate gargling with salt water and water with 2 drops of tea tree oil. > If it doesn't get better, the next step would be oregano. First step for me is Origanum. My wife is pregnant and I would do nothing to harm her or my son .. but early this week I had her sniff Origanum dubium 73.49% Carvacrol 4-5 times a day. We have some cold and snowy weather now .. but we walk daily. She caught a bug .. but she was able to kick it inside 24 hours or so. > Meanwhile I diffuse eucalyptus. This seems to do it for us! I like to use two different oils in the following manner .. a coffee cup half fulla warm water .. and 2-3 drops of the oils. I cup my hands over the top of the cup and sniff. It will clear sinuses and blockage in minutes. MANY folks here have tried it based on my suggestion and all have received the same results. The two I use are Eucalyptus, Blue Gum (Eucalyptus globulus) and Rosemary, Cineole (Rosmarinus officinalis). But .. just sniffing one of the Carvacrol rich Origanums will give relief too. In fact .. with a sinus headache .. I mean one'a them that makes the eyes hurt .. even the teeth hurt ;-) folks are surprised how fast it will go away when they sniff Origanum. > Laura > BTW, I would not suggest ingestion to anyone, I am just sharing what > has worked for me. I hear you .. same for me. I used to ingest Origanum on a regular basis and would now if I felt a need .. but I don't feel the need. Sniffing is all that's needed .. that's what Aromatherapy is all about .. taking in the volatile molecules of an EO through the olfactory system .. and it works. If I wanted to ingest I would put a few drops of Origanum in my soup. But regardless of the fact that some self proclaimed gurus are offering it in capsules .. 10% or so in olive oil .. we really don't know what happens to the chemical profile of an essential oil when it comes into contact with stomach acid. > I share your feelings about antibiotics. My pediatrician calls me > the poster mom for anti-antibiotics! Same here .. I might take them some day IF I am convinced its a matter of life or death .. but I knock on my wooden head and hope that time is far off .. or maybe never. ;-) > But there are times when the benefits out way the risks. Perzackly .. and if that time comes .. I will relent. Y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch http://www.AV-AT.com > mike and amy haskett <mikeandamy writes: > >>Have any of you treated strep with oils?
