Hi Paula!

I don't know if you have ever done so, if you have I could go back thru the

archives & not make you repeat it...but could you share how you go about

infusing? I would like to do this but am a little afraid too...does it take

alot of a specific herb to do this??

I would welcome anyone else's thoughts also...

Thanks a bunch!!!

Have a great day!!! donna

Re: un-petroleum jelly

for my grand son's eczema. I put unrefined shea butter on it adn you can see a

difference in about an hour. My un-petroleum jelly is always 3 parts liquid oil

to 1 part bees wax. I usually use rice bran oil or olive oil for all my

infusions and salves. I used to use mainly olive oil until the price went up so

much. Now I use rice bran oil in place of olive oil and use very little olive

oil.

Thank you Paula, that doesn't sound all that difficult!!! Do you have to use

fresh herbs or can you use dried?

Thanks again!! donna

I take a clean canning jar (1 qt size) and fill 2/3 to 3/4 full of wilted herb

and fill with oil and let sit in the sun for 2 weeks or cook on low in the crock

pot over night. What ever size container I'm using, I fill it 2/3 to 3/4 full of

the herb (picked the day before so it has time to wilt) and cover with olive or

rice bran oil or a combination of the 2. When it's done infusing, I strain thru

a clean knee high nylon and rebottle. I put the nylon over the top of the jar

and turn upside down. It usually doesn't even fill the lower half of the nylon

so I can cut it off when done, toss the strained herb, and tie a knot in the end

of the nylon and use it to strain another batch.

Good idea - start with a small batch. That way if it doesn't turn out, you won't

be out as much as if you filled a quart jar with fresh herbs.

Donna, it's really hard to mess up an infusion. About the only things I know

are to overheat it (and it still can work) or drop something in it like a

cup of coffee! LOL Unlikely even in my household. I make mine in a double

boiler on top of the stove in a pyrex bowl.
