RE: Advice - Winter Blues

Last winter I really had a bad case of the winter doldrums. This year I

have not. I was thinking about it a couple of weeks ago, trying to

figure out why the short days didn't bother me much this winter. Then I

realized what I *think* is the answer.

I started beadweaving as a hobby about 3 years ago. Last summer at

Sam's Club I spotted a nifty little " true daylight " lamp in the business

section for $20. I'd been eyeing the " Ott " brand crafting lights, but

didn't want to cough up the $50+ for that brand. Anyway, my little

" Sunlight " lamp is now my regular beading/reading lamp; I probably spend

at least an hour or two a night sitting by it with either a book or

beads in my hands. So I've been subjecting myself to light therapy!

Seriously, look into getting some sort of a full-spectrum light -Ott and

Daylight are two brands, and I just searched Sam's Online and found my

lamp:

Now, this isn't nearly as strong as the " light box " used for full-blown

light therapy; but I swear it's what has helped me. Add in diffusing

some nice bright citrus notes and/or Roman Chamomile, and you should

feel better!

Here's a little more I found about Seasonal Affective Disorder aka

" winter blues " :

Hope that helps!
