Guest guest
Well folks, I did it - my longest friend who I've known for over 25 years is a tattoo artist and she came to visit me 2 weeks ago and she gave me my first and only (so far) tattoo. Its a lovely faery sitting on my shoulder blade (if you so desire you can see her in my folder of the group's photo album Anyway - the point of this post is not to brag about my tat *lol*, but to discuss the after care of it. It was recommended to me by her that I use A & D Ointment for the first few days and then use a basic, unscented, preferably " glycerin based " lotion for a couple weeks afterward. Well, after looking at all the ingredients in A & D and the lotion I determined that I can make a better after care product than either of those things *lol* Basically the A & D is cod liver oil, mineral oil and wax - to make a salve that more coats than absorbs. That can easily be done with the cod liver oil and beeswax (can use " purified " even if folks want to be really " sterile " about it). And the glycerin unscented lotion is easy .. AND she has a buddy who uses lavender oil for the healing process and has great results, so using lavender hydrosol in the water phase of the lotion is the way to go IMHO. If anyone wants to be a guinea pig for my new " after ink " concoction, give me a holler offline and I'll send ya some to try out and give me feedback on! *Smile* Chris (list mom) PS - my little piece of artwork has healed quite nicely! Think left and think right and think low and think high. Oh, the thinks you can think up if only you try! - Dr Seuss http://www.alittleolfactory.com <http://www.alittleolfactory.com/>
Guest guest
This message must have been a vision into the future for me. My baby girl turned 18 on the 2nd of March and promptly went out and got her nose and lower lip pierced and then on Saturday she got a tattoo on her left forearm. I would be interested in some of your after ink concoction for her arm.
