Guest guest
Some people who are at the farmers market that I sell at on Sundays say they are using all natural preservatives. I of course challenged that, being the person that I am LOL. Here are things they say on their website. http://graceabbott.com/ingredients.htm Citric Seed Extract Derived from citrus fruit and employed as a preservative and helps adjust acid/alkaline balance. AND, Glyceryl Monoglyceride A food grade emulsifier used as an antimicrobial agent against gram-positive bacteria. Natural fatty acid used as a preservative. Non toxic food grade preservative. Hydroxtmethylglycinate This is an anti-microbial agent derived from glycine (a natural preservative) which in turn is extracted from plants. Nontoxic. Vitamin E An antioxidant used for stabilizing and preservative properties. There are other claims on that site that are tantemount to medical claims that I am sure they are not entitled to say. What do you all say to this? Thanks. Graham Sorenson http://Luna-Aromatics.com Come and stick your nose in our business The Home of " Arizona Balm " the Natural Solution to Problem Dry Skin. Guest guest
Hi Graham... The hydroxtmethylglycinate I'm thinking is Sodium Hydroxymethylglycinate otherwise known as Suttocide A...while this is supposedly a preservative way down on the list of the least toxic it is now proving to be a formaldehyde donor...so the chemists on another list were saying a good while back. I have quit using it, until more info is known. As far as what I can say about everything else they are saying...I believe in the principal of what goes around comes around...I'm just shaking my head & don't know really what TO say!! It is just sad. It has been stated on this list & many others that I'm on...there is no natural preservatives with the exception of those two new " prein " ones & the jury is still out on them. Have a good evening! donna - Graham Sorenson Sunday, February 12, 2006 3:05 PM That preservative issue again .
