Guest guest
I know cats are not supposed to be " given " essential oils...that it can damage their liver over time...or so say some supposedly in the know. Anyway, I was wondering if: 1) Is it alright to diffuse E.O.'s in the same room with the cats? 2) If NOT, how long do I need to wait until the cats enter the room after diffusing? 3) If it iS alright, then are there any E.O.'s that cats must NOT inhale ? Any other related info that I may need to know about cats and diffusing, would be appreciated. I know this has been discussed, but I've forgotten...you can refer me to a link if it will answer all my questions. Thanks, Diana of Dewberry Hill
Guest guest
Hi Diana, I don't see a definitive answer to your question, but I wouldn't risk diffusing without having fresh air available to my cat. http://www.thelavendercat.bigstep.com/generic.html;$sessionid$OWAIKHQ AAAIJVTZENUGJPQWPERWRJPX0?pid=10 The Lavender Cat: " Most people are aware of warnings that focus on the topical and oral administration of essential oils, but they are generally unaware that inhalation of essential oils can also be unsafe for your cat. Oils can affect a cat by absorption and inhalation just like for humans, and precautions should be used when repeatedly diffusing essential oils, since the development of liver damage can be a slow process without any visible symptoms. " http://www.holisticat.com/essoils_arch.html The Holistic Cat: " SOME EO'S CAN BE TOXIC TO CATS EVEN WHEN DIFFUSED. IT IS RECOMMENDED TO KEEP DIFFUSERS AWAY FROM INFANTS AND PETS " -Handbook of Essential Oils -Jo Serrentino " There is a lot of information on those two sites. Hope this helps.
