I add ground cloves and paprika to henna to get a customized color. I

find it covers grays better too.

Hi Evemary,

Yes, henna is good for hair conditioning. The oils (I think) help seal

the hair cuticle. I mix mine with water, and add the cloves and paprika,

let sit overnight, then apply to hair (leaving on for about 3 hours).

After reading the site Chris sent, I'll be changing some things though.

It lasts... When your roots get too bad, you reapply. I bought a box

from the Indian grocery for $3. I have very long, thick hair, and will

have gotten 5 uses from this box before I'll need to get another.

Hi Kaye,

Maybe I'm the rebel, but I did use it on chemically colored hair with no

ill effect. :-)

I do know " they " say not to use a chemical dye over previously hennaed

hair- you have to let it all grow out first.
