Guest guest
Hi all So I woke up this morning, had a bite of toast and pow! Sharp pain in the jaw just in front of my ear followed by painful swelling in front and behind the ear/jaw line. I stopped eating and it all settled down, but the area was still tender. Flash forward to lunch and same thing....only with even more swelling and pain. Every time I try to eat I get the same reaction, so I looked up the symptoms and Salivary Gland Stones (Salivary Calculi) seem to be the most likely cause. Full details are here http://www.patient.co.uk/showdoc/23069166/ I *will* toddle off to the doctor on Monday...but this has happened to me before (it cleared itself that time) and I'm wondering if anyone has any natural ideas/thoughts on how to deal with this, or prevent it happening again. All suggestions gratefully received....... Thanks LLx
Guest guest
Hi Liz, My husband had this and cured it with drinking _a lot_ of lemon juice/water. The more sour you can stand it, the better. You want the gland to produce a lot as it helps to flush out the stone. Hope this helps you! -Raine Liz wrote: > Hi all > So I woke up this morning, had a bite of toast and pow! Guest guest
Hi Liz, I wonder if the herb Chanca Piedra, literally Stone Breaker, will help here? It works wonderfully on gall bladder and kidney stones. Oops, was that an illegal medical claim?
Guest guest
I wonder if the herb Chanca Piedra, literally Stone Breaker, will help here? Here’s a random thought that may or may not be helpful. Cleavers (gallium tinctorum) is an herb that grows in many parts of the country. Many of the old herbals reference it as a remedy for urinary stones. I have never tried it on humans, but when I lived in Texas I used it with my old neutered tomcat that had a terrible problem with this. Worked like a charm, once I got him to accept food with the dried herb in it. Old Cosmo was not a picky eater – he loved corn on the cob among other things – it would never work with the finicky Miz Odessa who shares my home now. That’s my 2¢ worth on this thread, and I realize it may not be worth that much. Dave

Oops, was that an illegal medical > claim? Yes it is! Shock, Horror and Slap with cold wet stewed dandelion leaf! Happy to say that by the time I got to the doctor this morning the *thing* had dislodged itself and gone to the land of ex-stones. Jaw line and ear area are still tender, and a little swollen, but am dealing with that using a blend of heli, yarrow and juniper berry at 3% (total) dilution in coconut. The doctor tells me there is *some* infection in the throat and prescribed antibiotics - which I wont be taking - so I'm also inhaling some locally bought (read inferior!) oregano (*STILL* not remembered to replenish my Oregano's from Butch - bad mistake!) that smells more like thyme, but its working, combined with lemon, and I can swallow without pain to-night. I'll look into Chanca Piedra, as it seem I may be prone to this condition. Thanks for suggestion Ieneke! LLx
