Guest guest
Hiya Ien The issue here is prevention. I did provide Tea Tree Oil, another effective antifungal. But. the bigger issue is not mold allergies. It is the toxins these molds produce. So, my hope was to find some efffective safeguards, thanks mjh > Message: 18 > Sun, 19 Feb 2006 13:10:35 -0800 > " Ieneke van Houten " <ienvan > Re: Katrina Relief Workers - protection > > Herbs from the Rainforest are generally effective > for mold, since down there you either learn to fight > fungus or your turn into one. > > Arcozon, from Amazon Herb Company, combines > the well known Pau d'Arco with Jatoba. I think the key is building the immune system so that it has the fortitude to overcome the toxins that are released by the mold spores. The best way to fortify the immune system is with tonic herbs, and drinking them in a tisane (herbal tea) is the most assimible form. As a matter of fact, one of the synonyms of assimilate is inoculate! As for specific herbs, some of the true tonic herbs that relate to building the immune system and which also tonify (strengthen) the lungs are astragalus, reishi mushroom and schizandra berry. In TCM, these three herbs are often combined with Chinese licorice, MaHuang, bupleurum root and ginseng root. I would also make sure that one's colon is in proper working order. If one cannot eliminate, then all of those toxins will be re- circulated in the blood. I am by no means recommending a cleanse right before one leaves to go on this type of mission. I just want to put in a note of caution that a person must be able to get rid of the toxins! I would suggest taking at least a tablespoon full of organic flax seed meal daily , eating at least 8 ounces of organic, whole milk yogurt or kefir (make sure the product contains LIVE CULTURES) and drinking plenty of DISTILLED water with organic lemon slices whilst down there, and doing a colon cleanse upon returning to help purge any nasties that were picked up along the way. I hope this helps. Godspeed to those on the mission and they will be in my prayers. Warm regards, Lori
