Guest guest
Hi everyone, I get so excited about all the various ingredients we all talk about. They sound so wonderful! Then I buy some and after it has been sitting here at my house for a few weeks or months, I realize I don't have the faintest idea what to do with it! I thought I heard something about this bubble bath ingredient, like 40% of the mix so yesterday I threw together a bubble bath, thinking the bottle would make about 4-5 baths. I put in about 3 Tablespoons of decyl polyglucose (about 2 ounces, I think) and then mixed about a half teaspoon of vanilla concentrate into about 1 Tablespoon of vegetable glycerin, in a separate container. Then I mixed pachouli and lavender EO into the glycerin with the vanilla. I filled the bottle with approx 60% rose hydrosol and added the glycerin/EO mix. Shook it up. It was brown bubble bath, but I'm okay with that. Since I have removed the cover on my bathtub overflow and placed one of those black rubber gaskets from the hardware store, with the thick side down, then replaced the overflow cover, I can really fill the tub up deep. So I did that and also I have filtered water from a shower filter I put on the tub spout. Ahhhhh, no chlorine. The bath was sensational and I used no lotion afterwards and my skin isn't dry, in fact it's soft. I think it was pretty good. But I had to use the entire bottle to make bubbles and that is my question. So I ended up with more EO than I would usually use in one bath. Would anyone with more experience care to comment on how I could improve my method? I don't know how I would package this for anyone else since I used a whole bottle (8 ozs.) not just a few squirts as intended. I wanted a concentrated product. Thanks for any help on this, I can't wait to hear your suggestions. Laurel in Santa Monica
Guest guest
Hi Laurel, I understand about loving to try all the new things, and then not being sure what to do with them *lol* I think your problem was over diluting. Since its an item that is to be diluted in a vast amount of water (a bathtub, especially a garden tub), I choose to leave it undiluted for the most part. I add all the things I want to it, but don't put any more water than I need to. I also have very hard water here and wish I had a water softener system. It definitely affects things like bubble baths (and my skin, and insides of toilets and sinks, etc ..) , but I can assure you that with the decyl I get a full tub of bubbles for the kids, despite the hard water. You also remind me how badly I want to get a shower and tub filter! What brand do you have? *Smile* Chris (list mom) Sea Buckthorn Seed Oil Last Days Of The Pre-Buy http://www.alittleolfactory.com <http://www.alittleolfactory.com/> On Behalf Of laureldeleo Hi everyone, I get so excited about all the various ingredients we all talk about. Guest guest
don't forget to pour under warm running water and then agitate the water, preferably at the beggining of the bath. i get gobs of bubbles that way from just one capful of the stuff. HTH & happy bubble bathing! ~Bonnie
Guest guest
Oh Lord, If only I could too~! Our water goes from 0 -300 We had it tested it's 297~ hard almost as a rock. If you face forward in our shower I swear we look like Kraemer on Seinfield, where the shower head blows him over. If you're a woman you can't stand facing our shower~LOL~ Sindy I know that's water pressure and hard water combined~! - You also remind me how badly I want to get a shower and tub filter!
