Guest guest
Hello, I'm new to soap making and I'm using melt & pour. The problem is the bars of soap seem to just melt away after a few uses. Is there something I can add to make it harder and last longer? Also where can I find citric acid and borax to make bath fizzies ? I thought I could buy the ingredients locally. Thank you, Gale []

The problem is > the bars of soap seem to just melt away after a few uses. M & P is very high in glycerin, which makes it a softer bar that melts away faster. That is also why from scratch handmade soaps get gooey in puddle of water at the sink or shower more so than the average detergent body bar from the supermarket does - the high glycerin content. > Is there > something I can add to make it harder and last longer? You can add some beeswax and/or stearic acid to your M & P base to make the soap harder and last a bit longer. Be sure to always use a soap dish with your M & P bars to make them last longer too (for the reason mentioned above). > Also where can > I find citric acid and borax to make bath fizzies ? Citric acid is harder to find locally. > Thank you, Gale [] *Smile* Chris (list mom) Sterling Silver Perfume Pendants http://www.alittleolfactory.com
Guest guest
if you have a beer and/or wine making supply store near by, they should have the citric. I don't use borax in my bath fizzies but I use it in my laundry soap and buy it at either Wal-Mart's or a grocery store. Look for 20 Mule Team Borax with the dry bleach and other dry laundry additives Paula .......... in Michigan I used to have super powers but my therapist took them away Hello, I'm new to soap making and I'm using melt & pour.
