Guest guest
I know someone who had breast cancer and had the breast and nodes removed under her arm 7 years ago and now her whole arm and hand is grossly swollen since. No medical treatment has seemed to work. Any idea on what she can do? Thanks, LG
Guest guest
Willow, My Mom had this same operation many years ago. Her arm is swollen to 2x the size of her other arm. We have tried everything. Drs have suggested wearing a knit stocking....does not work and causes lots of problems. The one thing I did find that worked for Mom (when she does it) is taking a small ball and squeezing it in the hand while the arm in propped up on the elbow. It seems to cause the edema to recede from the wrist and hand a bit. If anyone has anything that works to reduce the swelling, please let us know. I'd be so interested in this. I also find that the arm with the edema is more prone to infection from a cut or scrape.
