Guest guest
Since it's still wintry here in Michigan and waaaay too early to planty anything outdoors yet, I've (finally!) started an indoor herb garden in my kitchen. So far, I have chives, parsley, lemon balm, thyme, and oregano. Unfortuantely, my Rosemary didn't make it. Waaah! I'm absolutely loving having the herbs growing right in my kitchen. I've been thinking of doing this for a loooong loooong time so I'm happy that I've got it growing now. Guest guest
I'll be starting my hanging strawberry basket soon--I'm in MI, so it'll start indoors, but this sweet Valentine's Day present's going to be tasty later on! Serra p.s. I also got an herb kit for a windowsill garden, just have to find a place for it. Guest guest
Spring isn't that far off - been seeing robins for over a week and my irises and other lilies are up a good 2-3 inches and my daffodils are nearly 3-4 inches tall. Time to find my small rake and get busy out in my herb and flower beds. Paula .......... in Michigan I used to have super powers but my therapist took them away Since it's still wintry here in Michigan and waaaay too early to planty anything outdoors yet, I've (finally!) started an indoor herb garden in my kitchen. Guest guest
Quickie question, I'd love to grow herbs in my kitchen, but I have two cats that like to dig up whatever house plants that I own, does anyone have any suggestions as how to stop this?. I also find that my outside front garden is used as a potty for all the dogs in the neighborhood, and I am being seen as a crazy lady who screams at all dog owners to keep the dogs off my lawn, for this problem I found a perfect solution, I am going to plant *piss off* plants, lol, yes that is what they are called, apparently dogs and cats do not like the odor from these plants but they seem very nice to us humans and apparently they have these beautiful little flowers. My grandmother had this huge clear plastic ball that was a solarium that she grew her plants in, maybe that is a solution, anyone know where I can purchase one of those? Thanks and have a great day folks... Carol
Guest guest
Much of the land is still covered with slush, but it is going fast now. The little square right in front of the dwelling is bare, and snowdrops, crocusses and aconites are blooming merrily. In the unheated greenhouse, catnip is waking up, and some parsley and Swiss chard are putting out fresh leaves. I planted a few flats of flowers and early greens, partly to take to the farmers market later on. I love this time. Every green leaf is a total treat. Though it is an anticlimax , compared to the RUSH I used to feel when I saw any bare ground after 4 months of serious snow. Climate change is here, like it or not.
