Who can you trust now adays??????????? Hi Bobbi I had a weird experience with mt. Rose hydrosols a few years back. I got some of their " orange blossom " and it smelled flat, and within a few weeks grew bacteria in the bottle. I called them and they admitted -- get this -- they distilled dried orange blossoms themselves for it! They did refund my money after I had to send the bottle back! So maybe they're distilling cucumbers, too. I never purchased from them after that. http://naturalperfumery.com The premier site on the Web to discover the beauty of Natural Perfume Join to study natural perfumery
Guest guest
Hi Margaret, Bobbi, other good folks .. > Aren't there some folks around who use a still to distill items > just for the hydrosol? Maybe that's what's been done?? True it is .. but what those folks are getting is a Hydrosol .. with trace amounts of Essential Oil suspended in it. Remember .. the issue here is about an attempt to redefine the meaning of Hydrosol. If there is no Essential Oil .. there is no Hydrosol. Cucumbers have no EO. Based on the definition these folks are using .. one could put Horse Manure in a still and the liquid that would result from this could be sold as Horse Manure Hydrosol. According to the definition these folks want to use .. I just finished my second cuppa Nescafe Coffee Hydrosol. And .. since I always have a couple of Rakis, an alcoholic beverage co-distilled from grapes and anise seed (similar to Ouzo) when I eat fish, last night I had a couple of Raki Hydrosols. To take it further .. if one wants to redefine terms (and confuse in order to market) they could claim that a salve with a Vaseline base is all natural since its a petroleum product .. derived from a natural source .. organic crude oil. Redefining accepted terms to suit one's own marketing efforts is a basic requirement for any con game. Unfortunately, this industry is not regulated so there is no LEGAL definition for Hydrosol in the USA. I doubt if they could get away with such advertising in the European Union because they pretty much control everything with some form of regulation .. all of which are not logical but still there is control. This outfit might be the finest around for herbs .. might be selling products guaranteed to not rust, bust or collect dust .. but they are not being up front when they offer Hydrosols that don't exist. How many times does someone need to attempt to deceive before one determines that their practices are deceptive? As far as the length of time the company has been around .. don't forget that Young Living has also been around for a long time. > Margaret > www.naturalindulgences.com Y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch http://www.AV-AT.com >>This surprises me as Mt. Guest guest
Merhaba Butch and Hi Everyone, > If there is no Essential Oil .. there is no Hydrosol. Cucumbers have >no EO. Based on the definition these folks are using .. one could put >Horse Manure in a still and the liquid that would result from this >could be sold as Horse Manure Hydrosol. I have dealt with this Cucumber Hydrosol issue for quite some time now -- I had many requests from my customers for a product line with Cucumber Hydrosol in it and finally, I had to sit down and write about it, which comes up when one googles " cucumber hydrosol " ;P Butch, you have heard my share about this via e-mail, so you may remember it Well, I have a very nice pair of trusted work boots of mine, I may distill some boot hydrosol, who knows perhaps I can sell it for a whopping $750 per gallon (like the mystery cucumber hydrosol)! Thank you Butch (and Martin) for keeping this topic alive and sharing your expertise so generously. Be well, Sevi
