Evening Folks:

This week I've been thinking a bit about an order that should be in route to me.

The supplier doubled~plus the price, right about the time that I ordered one

particular essential oil. Yes, I rec'd the original price that was stated, but

it crossed my mind that my oil could be diluted when it arrives. Not sure where

the idea came from, it just jumped into my head. ;) Guess it came from being

burned a time or two.

Then, it came to mind about a 10% Frankincense that I have on hand. Did not

realize it was 10% when I ordered it, but found out later. <groan> When

burning this oil in a regular eo burner with tea candle underside, the

Frankincense burns off, and the carrier oil stays behind in the well for quite

some time after the eo is gone.. A simple enough test to see if your essential

oil has been diluted or adulterated without sending it off to have tests done,

etc. The Frankincense is in Jojoba oil, guess it will probably work with other

carrier type oils too. Some oils may burn a bit better than the Jojoba.

Any other 'at home tests' that folks can share would be appreciated. Now that

this is in my mind, of course I'm going to have to test this oil when it

arrives.

No, my order was not from anyone on this list, just thought that some newer

aroma folks might like to have a way to check the percentage of eo that they

have in stock.

Note: Thanks for the input I rec'd via the list regarding the questions about

the best way to work with the Frankincense and Myrrh tears/resin. Great input.

Added note: Found in one of my herbals that alcohol is a great way to extract

from those resins. Will try it next time. Gotta find a second spice/coffee

grinder to use for resin in the future too. Keep your eyes open for those deals

at yard sales~was good advice from others.

A most fragrant rest of the week-end to ya,

deb
