Guest guest
Now, I truly have to ask, is the most scary part about that story the fact that you'll probably soon hear it out there in the land of AT rumors, and then it'll end up in books and on websites, etc, being spread around like fact, with no proof to back it up ... like so much of the Aromatherapy information out there ... like the Rosemary thing? [Dave:] My field is soaps more that AT specifically, but of course they overlap. One of my pet peeves is the way folks pass on info that they’ve read or heard but never personally verified. You don’t see this just on internet lists…but also on websites, in books, etc. Thus I have at least two herbal manuals that incorrectly identify calendula as the common garden marigold…folks repeat what they’ve heard about natural colorants as if they have actually used them – and I’ve found out the hard way that they are pH-sensitive and do NOT work as stated – etc. There are so many examples. This is why, when I teach soapmaking, I put so much emphasis on folks doing the math themselves instead of consulting a chart or book. Caveat emptor. Soyez sage. Semper in fæcibus sumus, sole profundum variat.
