I usually combine it with another natural detergent that is somewhat less expensive so that the overall cost is lower than if I only used the lavender stuff. Do I resent paying more for the yummy stuff? NO! I am proud to contribute to the success of a company that is creating such a lovely product. I want them to succeed. Molly, I loved and applauded every word of your long post. These are issues I struggle with and have struggled with all my life. It all boils down to " Am I worth it? " I am intrigued by your mention of the laundry detergent. Please share! Guest guest
Hello Ien and all, The lavender detergent is the Mrs. Meyer's brand by Clean & Company, which (heaven forfend) could be some giant outfit masquerading as a small biz. The website is http://www.mrsmeyers.com . I buy it at a local grocery store, one that is known for stocking lots of organic foods and eco-friendly products. I have known several cottage businesses who have gotten good shelf space at this store. Will it happen everywhere? Of course not. But if you are interested in wholesaling (a whole other ball of wax or quart of oil), keep your eyes open for the places where your unique, boutique products might be welcomed. One of the cottage producers I know sells her floral waters at our gym! The gym keeps full sized sample bottles by the sinks in the women's lav (I love a spritz of lavender before I go hit the stairmill), and the bottles and other goodies are available for sale at the front desk. You mention the " Am I worth it? " struggle. I know it all to well. What has helped me is to step out of that conversation all together. When I thought about it, it didn't make sense to make my self esteem a business issue. That would be like asking my customers to take care of my emotional needs, not quite fair. (It is emotionally rewarding to do good work for people who appreciate it, but I see that as quite a different matter.) As I said to a massage therapist client of mine a few years ago: " Do you think it is fair to your clients (and prospective clients) to let your self esteem get in the way of your success? You can't very well serve people who can't find you or whom you can't afford to serve. " She got it instantly, and the funny thing is that once she quit focusing on what she was worth and started focusing on what her clients needed and how she could deliver that in a sustainable and joyful fashion, those ol' self esteem issues seemed to shrink. Sure, they come up, like bad pennies and the sun, but after a while we can just say hi to them and go about our business. They become harmless little dust bunnies, only a problem if we have an allergic reaction. In this instance, the " antihistamine " of choice is to concentrate on service and to be realistic about what it takes to provide good service. Hope this is helpful, Molly On Apr 18, 2006, at 11:06 AM, Ieneke van Houten wrote: > Molly Gordon wrote: > however I discovered a natural, lavender scented, > biodegradable detergent that is just so delicious. Guest guest
Thanks Molly, That is wise advice and very helpful! I don't make products, I do Reiki-enriched Reflexology. And I had just raised my price. I have found EFT incredibly helpful in this and other inner struggles. I usually fall asleep if I try to do visualizations and that sort of stuff, but when I am tapping my drifty mind stays engaged. And that reminds me. It's Ad day. Gotta get that in....
