Guest guest
Hi Everyone: Well, the Guild is one week old today, and what a fun, exciting week it has been. We have a nice membership list so far, a balanced mix of natural perfumers, body care manufacturers, suppliers, and enthusiasts -- all united in our love of natural aromatics. More importantly, the well wishes and feedback show that the Guild has " good legs " ;-) and we're ready to start sprinting forward with all the ideas and programs we've had in the works for months now. More " members only " pages will go up on the site next week, but in the meantime, please feel free to visit our site and see the launch pages. We won't have our formal launch until June 1st, but here's a preview of what we'll have: + A Board of Directors of Professional Natural Perfumers and Suppliers. They have various areas of interest that they will focus on in their contribution to the Guild: membership, communications, special events, professional development, including some " at large " directors who will respond to opportunities as they arise. A truly comprehensive coverage of all facets of development and expansion of the art and craft of natural perfumery is addressed. + Discounts for members-only. Some great suppliers of natural aromatics and supplemental ingredients will offer specials and discounts on items to members of the Guild. A great chance to obtain materials at a great price. As opportunities arise, we are also working on discounts on conference and vendor fees for our members. + Mentoring program. Enthusiasts who have questions for professional perfumers will have access to some gracious volunteers from our members. We're working out the details of this program to ensure a good fit for both parties, and the structure of the mentoring. OK, that's enough for now, I have so save some goodies for my next post. Oh, one clarification about fees: they're not tax deductible. Like many Guilds I researched, and contacted, we decided not to go the " non-profit " route, for several reasons. The main benefits of being a non-profit are the members can deduct their fees from their taxes, and the non-profit has special status in obtaining government grants. We never intend to go for grants, and our fees are in line with many of the professional Guilds, and the paperwork involved with a non-profit is a big headache. I'll write on this more in the newsletter, and even give an example of a non-profit arm of the Guild that may occur in the future, for special reasons. PS the absolutely drop-dead, gorgeous Guild website was designed and engineered by your very own oils_herbs hostess with the mostess Chrisziggy -- bet you didn't know she had such skills. Of course, she's a Guild member, and will offer discounts on everything from her alittleolfactory.com products to web design. http://artisannaturalperfumers.com The Artisan Natural Perfumers Guild http://naturalperfumery.com The premier site on the Web to discover the beauty of Natural Perfume Biggest, most dynamic natural perfumery chat group on the Web, with archives that are unsurpassed in content
