Guest guest
I had a hysterectomy last Thursday and my incision is infected. I am cleaning it with hydrogen peroxide and putting neorsporin on it. I have some emu oil, tea tree EO, and lavender 40/42 EO. Would it be better to add some of the EOs to the emu oil and use that instead of neorsporin? Other than that I am fine. I feel much better than I thought I would. My doctor gave me a horemone shot during surgery to last me a month. I see him next week for a checku[ and to discuss how I want to handle hormones. Any ideas? Jo Ann Nourse

Guest guest
I'm kinda with Paula on this one, I wouldn't mess with a surgical wound. Well, actually I did. One of my son's incision from his appendectomy became infected. But in his case it was just titchy little incision and I watched it like a hawk. 8 times a day I told him to lift his shirt, I drove him NUTS. The reason I'm with Paula on this one, is that because the incision was healing, the infection was under the skin. Infection can rapidly turn into something nasty and spread like crazy. Man cub's infection did finally heal up, but not until it worked it's way to the surface. It really isn't something you want to mess with. As I said, I did it, but, A) it was a tiny incision, B) the infection was also fairly minor and C) (most importantly of all), he was a bit gunshy of doctors at that point. So I chose to watch, but if the redness had spread the least bit, or the area became sore (er), if the wound had changed in any way, we would have been in the Emergency room 10 minutes later (one of the benifits of living so close to the hospital ;-) ). Don't mess. " Hie thee to the Healer " . Also, there is an article at Aromatic Sage debating the usefulness of EMU oil. Worth reading. Guest guest
Paula I definitely agree with this advice. My daughter had a C-section when my grandson was born 6 months ago and came out of hospital with a staph infection! It took mega antibiotics, unfortunately, to clear it up...but an infected surgical incision is nothing to mess around with. Guest guest
I totally agree, chances are its infected at the bottom of the wound, and will have to be opened. Thats what happened to me, and it took awhile - it had to granulate in , and I had to be on antibiotics, Mary Well, Naturally - paula coon Sunday, May 14, 2006 6:51 AM Re: I had a hysterectomy a week ago and incision is infected Stop putting EO " S and Emu on it and call your Dr first thing Monday morning !!!!!!!!!!!
