Guest guest
Is there a comfort difference? If I had to pick it would be for comfort on regular nights. But then I would what one that you can heat for when my neck wants to start acting up. Thanks donna , " Woobey Queen " <WoobeyQueen wrote: > > JUST Buckwheat? Basically what are you wanting it for? Guest guest
Take 2 rectangles of your choice of fabric, the same size, put right sides together, sew on 2 long sides and 1 end, leave the other open and fill with buckwheat, leave room for the buckwheat to move freely, don't make it too full, then sew the other end of the pillow closed. That's all there is to it. Lynn --- d4lacoste <d4lacoste wrote: > hi, > I am trying to find out how do I make a buckwheat > pillow? Guest guest
Hmmmmmm. Make it about 3/4 buckwheat and 1/4 whole wheat berries or whole grained rice (if you haven't got the berries). The buckwheat is a heat conductor and the berries (or rice) is a heat " holder " (forgotten the word at the mo.). That way you still get the comfort of the buckwheat, but the berries or the rice will be there for the occassions you need to warm it. As the previous writer mentioned, don't make it too full. Takes too long to heat... and speaking of heating, 1:30 on high in the nuclear should do it... don't heat it much longer, it won't stay warm for any longer length of time, but you CAN make it too hot, in which it can catch on fire. I know... I burned a few in the beginning. ;-) K On 5/22/06, d4lacoste <d4lacoste wrote: > > Is there a comfort difference? If I had to pick it would be for > comfort on regular nights. Guest guest
I haven't made one of these before either and this sounds fun to try. Kathleen, is there something other than the buckwheat that is good for both heating and cooling? Now I'm very curious about the process. Thanks, Holly
Guest guest
I am not Kathleen, nor do I play her on TV, but I use Flax seed in my pillows, with Lavender and sometimes Camomile in them. Guest guest
ROFLMAO! I'm played by Rosanne Barr. ROFLMAO! Fillings for " Woobeys " : Flax, Herbs of all kinds, Whole grain Rice, Whole Wheat berries, Crushed Corn Cobs, Corn (don't use popcorn), Cherry Pits, Buckwheat hulls, groats, buckwheat and there's a whole bunch of other stuff most likely roaming around that folks use. You just have to find what you like. Guest guest
Hi Donna, When I make the pillows I use Flax as I find the Flax seeds are very soft against the skin. They also retain the heat and cold very very well. I make a washable cover in Flannel for my Flax bags,it is so nice to be able to clean the bag. Colleen > hi, > I am trying to find out how do I make a buckwheat > pillow?
