If it's not for real, I'd be surprised. Knowing some of the people I do, I'm

amazed they are still alive sometimes. The stupidity of some people can be

amazing - they are the ones who shouldn't be allowed to go out alone !

Should be .. folks do stranger things. For real was two young fellers

arrested for stealing gas a few months back .. while siphoning it from a

car one spilled it on his trousers .. the other flipped his Bic to see

how much gas was on his friend. ;-)

But the reasons Snopes gives for lack of credibility are not credible.

 

I like one site where a feller relates it to tales in the military ..

when someone starts out with, " Hey guys, this ain't no BS, " then you

gotta roll your pants legs up. ;-)

So .. I conclude that its an urban legend that describes the mentality

of far more folks than we want to admit .. the shallow end of the gene

pool is much larger than the deep end. I've met many such folks while I

was in law enforcement .. sometimes its hard for a cop to stop laughing

while writing a report even though the situation is not humorous to the

victim or the perpetrator. In some cases the technically legal victim

is the perpetrator .. and/or vice versa. ;-)

Who .. flew into Istanbul's Ataturk International yesterday evening to

pick up his BIL who was arriving from Russia .. and ran into a smoke

screen at the airport cause a large cargo building was burning down and

likely it will be that the cause was something like that described in

the Wisconsin hunter's tale. Difference is the hunters had no logistic

support .. planes from the airport were dropping water on the fire. ;-)
