Guest guest
>Some of the brands of cultured, store bought Buttermilk are pretty bad. [Dave:] Been reading this thread with a smirk. Buttermilk is one of those things you love or hate. I love it, but I agree that most of the cultured brands are pretty bad. Alta Dena makes a good one. Knudsen used to sell a “Bulgarian style” b’milk that was great. Thick. Like a shake. _____ -- Version: 7.1.394 / Virus Database: 268.7.2/349 - Release 5/26/2006 -- Version: 7.1.394 / Virus Database: 268.7.2/349 - Release 5/26/2006

Every morning when he would go and milk the cow, my mamaw would make what she called puffy butter. It was still soft and just lightly salted. I just absolutely lived for the times we would go to their house. She would always have fried apple pies and apple stacked cake. Yum......the way to a kids heart.... >Some of the brands of cultured, store bought Buttermilk are pretty bad. >I worked in Philly and lived near Wilmington for 2 years and never found >A brand that I liked .. My dad loved buttermilk. He always drank it with salt in it too but sometimes he would crumble cornbread, Not the sweet kind, into a bowl and pour buttermilk over it and eat it with a spoon. Dad was born in Alabama and lived and died just a good old country boy. He loved nothing better than to be barefoot in the garden with a hoe in his hand. Guest guest
but many Americans won't eat it plain .. they want the fruit yoghourt. ;-) [Dave:] I prefer the plain. I’ve made my own, it’s not hard. I’ve made a ginger yogurt that’s to die for, and also a cranberry. But plain yogurt is hard to beat. We just started carrying some exotic yogurts at work...we now have sheep, goat and water buffalo yogurt. _____ -- Version: 7.1.394 / Virus Database: 268.7.2/349 - Release 5/26/2006 -- Version: 7.1.394 / Virus Database: 268.7.2/349 - Release 5/26/2006
Guest guest
Hi Pamela, Do enjoy good Cornbread, Fried Chicken is one of my favorite meals. Just its the hardest meal for me to make. So I I have help, then we get it. With it besides the good mashes potatos, and cream gravy, I make a pot of what we call pot pie. Chicken broth, then a noodle type stuff, just no eggs. Now I'm getting hungry. My son will be coming over to work on his car thats here. Then help open our pool. He is the best kitchen help. Did have it cleaned off a couple weeks ago. Just we have had so much rain, its like back to square one. Nancy Mmmm, buttermilk is sooo good in corn bread and fried chicken! ~Pamela
Guest guest
ok....eeeewww!! And this is only because I can not get the NG pictures out of my mind of this huge beast with a constantly runny nose!!!! [Dave:] Well, this is America. Elsie had Kleenex. Haven’t tried this delicacy yet. I’m doing some shopping this afternoon. Tell you what, I’ll get a container of sheep, goat, and buffalo. Do a little taste test. I’m assuming of course that the runny nose isn’t the end the yogurt came from. _____ -- Version: 7.1.394 / Virus Database: 268.7.2/349 - Release 5/26/2006 -- Version: 7.1.394 / Virus Database: 268.7.2/349 - Release 5/26/2006
