June 1, 2006 - The Official Launch of the Artisan Natural Perfumers Guild

Mandy Aftel, author of Essence and Alchemy, a book on natural perfumery,

started the Guild in 2002, but closed it due to her business demands at the

time, and also because it was a bit premature. Now, since Natural Perfumery

is gaining more popularity, perfumers, aromatherapists, soapers, toiletry

manufacturers, raw materials suppliers and scent enthusiasts are now

joining the reopened Guild, of which I am Owner, to promote and encourage

the use of natural aromatics.

 

It's been an exciting and wonderful few weeks it has been since the " soft "

launch of the Guild in late April. Thirty-three members have flowed into

the Guild, and more are in the process of joining. Our newsletter should be

up on our site later today (for members only) and many exciting programs

and offerings are in place, including supplier liaison, discounts,

membership process, newsletter, Guild meetings, conference liaison, media

relations, group moderator and advisor. We're developing a mentoring

program, database and business management and ongoing education

coordination and much more.

 

Great discounts are already in place, and the Guild members save a lot on

supplies and other tangible goods, such as something I was trying to hold

off as a news flash for the members, but the newsletter won't go out until

later today, so I'll announce it now:

 

Prodarom, an institute in Grasse, France, has agreed to give generous

discounts to GUILD members: Their usual fee for the naturals course is

$1090, materials, breaks and lunches included. Their offer is:

 

Individual Student 10% discount

 

Group of 12-16 Students: $10,500. This works out to between $656 to

$875/student, depending on attendance. Additionally, they will accommodate

OUR schedules and arrange for lodging discounts. The classes are Monday to

Friday, from 9 am to 5 pm, and include a visit to the rose or jasmine

That's just a little taste - of sniff - of what is going on with the Guild.

Michelle, writing to you publicly here, because my private email
