Guest guest
Hi Folks: Thanks to all that sent in your input on the RLS. Here is what I found out with lots of research in many books over the week-end. Kept coming up with these individual oils and finally took the bull by the horns and made some up. There were a few oils that came up that I did not have on hand. Am sure there are herbs out there that would work, but no current work in my library. Did keep coming up with Magnesium as it is a natural muscle relaxer. Some folks swear by Calcium, but we have a hard time taking the two together, and it seems the Magnesium works best alone~in separate doses from the Calcium. I have been pleasantly surprised~since then I have had several nights of uninterrupted sleep due to using this on hubby. He was in a world of hurt last night~lightening came thru our house and {we think it was the static charge since it went right by him} knocked him out of his chair! No major damage to him other than the legs hurting more than ususal, his nerves were shot & he had the shakes. We were very lucky~3 strikes in and around our house and my brother's down front~no fires~no major appliance damage that we can find, and Thank God, Hubby is ok! He did use the oils and slept very well what was left of the night after the destressing time period. Oils & base for massage: In a 2 oz bottle: 2 TBL Sunflower Oil 2 TBL St. John's Wort infused oil 5-10 drops of each essential oil: Neroli ~was really amazed that the Neroli kept coming up. As it's one of my fav's and had some on hand, I decided to try it. Nutmeg~why? Knew that it really works well for pain & hubby has worked standing on concrete floors for 30 plus years Cypress~kept coming up for circulation Marjoram~ kept coming up Pink Grapefruit~as a detox oil for muscles, ligaments, etc. Bergamot~Bergapine free of course~just kept coming up and since I work alot with it, decided to try it. The citrus & blossom oils help with the overall fragrance of the combo and all work together in detoxing the joints, muscles, etc. Note: If using Grapefruit or most citrus oils~they can be phototoxic~as in: skin allergy~discoloration of the skin, so please stay out of the sun right after using them. Nighttime would be best to use them & it would be best to have a shower/bath before going into the sun. Wish there were 'bergapine free' in all citrus oils. Any chance that someone is working on it? Skin test was fine~oils seemed to work well together. Of course this could be used for inhalation as well. Feel free to experiment with this recipe for your own personal use, would appreciate it if you don't use it as a commercial one~just in case I decide to use it in the future. A most fragrant day to ya & back to hermit mode for me, deb
Guest guest
Hey Deb!! My day job is an administrator for a department in a medical school. One of my benefits is that I work with researchers and have a few I can discuss various aspects of their research . . . others consider anyone without a PhD to stupid to know much. LOL!! One of our labs has applied for a grant on restless leg research and I have discussed RL with them in the past. Besides RL, I often have severe aching in the large muscles of my legs. They are as interested in what I have to say as I am to listen to them. I think you are on the right track and I would plan to take the ball and run with it. There are several things for me to consider. QUALITY of the EOs . . . ratio of EOs to carrier. What carrier is best? I guess this gets back to the molecular thing . . . what penetrates all layers of skin and does it take the EO with it. Or does it NEED to penetrate. Can it work on the surface? This is how my brain works . . . I have to know why and how. I am going to play around with some EOs . . . I can practice on myself plus another gal in a lab has RLS . . . Can we colaborate? If interested, send me an e-mail off list. -Helen worth249 @ earthlink.net > Hi Folks: > Thanks to all that sent in your input on the RLS. Just a thought: How about soaking in a bath with Epsom salt (magnesium sulfate)? Teresea
