OT: A warning to those who are shopping for herbs!

Hi everyone. I'm usually pretty easy going about things, but I need to

vent and thought the info may be of some use to those in this group.

This year as I have been planting my garden and adding plants

especially herbs I came across a Richters catalog and fell in love with

their selection. I ordered and and recieved my seeds and books within

good time....two weeks later my plants arrived. I was missing 2

individual plants that I paid for as well as 4 from a pack of plants

that I paid for. I have since e-mailed (unable to call long distance

to Canada) them 3 times and have not received a response yet. I feel

that this is absolutely lowsy customer service and I've been robbed!

They took my money and have not given me a refund or replacements and

the worst part is their lack of communication. I will never order form

them again!

Hi, if you want send me your ordering info and I will contact them on your

behalf, I am in The Toronto area , they are pretty close to where I am, send

me your order number and what it was that you ordered, what you received .

 

 

 

I love Ritchers and have never had a problem with them.

Doublecheck your order very carefully. I order from Richters all

the time, have for years, and have never had a problem. That

obviously doesn't mean that one can't occur or that you haven't run

into one. Having spoken with them on the phone fairly regularly

when I was buying wholesale, they were always helpful and concerned

that I felt I was getting not only good service but fair value as

well. I opened by saying check your order very carefully because

there have been numerous crop failures this season. Wile Richters

lists what plants/seeds are not available due to crop failure on

their website, I learned this year that crop failure includes

everything from frost, aphid attack, etc that one would normally

associate with crop failure, to some ditz dropped the last flat of

whatchahoozit officianalis on the way to the shipping department,

which doesn't make it onto the website right away. When I received

my order, I too was missing a coupla plants. Careful review of my

invoice and crosschecking it with my bank statement, however, showed

that I was credited for the items that were not shipped.

 

If there was a mistake, I feel sure that it was just that. (Note: I

have no association with Richters other than as a long time

satisfied customer). I do agree, they are quite slow if not

impossible to contact via e-mail. I would bet a nickel, however,

that for the price of a phone call if you can use a phone that will

allow you to call through to Canada, you will get the issue resolved

right away if review of your invoice and bank statement does not.

It seems that it's pretty important to you, having posted as

vehemently as you did, so the price of a call from the local pay

phone might be worth it. I'd bet they'd give you a call back if you

ask them too, though that is just surmise.
