Guest guest
Aromatherapy, herbs, natural living, etcHi Debby, I am sorry to hear about your Mom, Debby. In all fairness though, I don't know how if my experience will help you understand because she has chemo along with her radiation as well as I did have surgery. I will do my best to share what I know though:) I am already experiencing anxiety early on from radiation. I beleive much of it is in my head becuase I have always been so alternative minded and this radiation gives me the heebie jeebies. I do think I will ask for anti anxiety meds at this point becuase it is a long haul for me. Most people do really well through their radiation but it all depends on where they are radiating as well as how many treatments. And definately depends on what chemo they are using and her amount of rounds and how she reacts to it. Most oncologists have learned by the mistakes of the past and can now give different meds to help combat things like nausea and weakness, but that also depends on which chemo and what it is being used for. And how the person reacts to it. Using natural medicines can sometimes interfere with the actions of cancer treatments some studies reveal so most of the time you are stuck with what they give you to help with side effects. Do you know what cancer she has? Treatment depends on the type, location, stage and grade (if applicable). If you know these things, the American Cancer Society has alot of info on treatments. http://www.cancer.org I hope she comes through this with flying colors. I have come to understand why cancer patients are encouraged to be fighters. But the good news is that people survive cancer more than in the past. Lets hope the best for your mom, ok. Guest guest
Thank you Kristerae!! This is good info. I am so worried about her right now. She just had a heart attack yesterday and had to have to stints put in her heart. She is having such a hard time right now. I pray that she makes it through!! My Mom's cancer is located in the anal canal. Not the colon or bowel but the actual canal where (pardon me for saying this) the poop comes out of the body. There is no operation that can be done to remove the cancer only chemo and radiation. She has very sensitive skin so her entire bottom area is burned from the treatments. There is one spot that doesn't have any skin left at all which is extremely painful for her. It just makes me so sad to see her in this condition but if it helps in the end then it's all worth it right? I have a suggestion for your anxiety. Try buring uplifting essential oils in an oil burner in your home. I also suffer from anxiety on occasion and find it to help a lot. Here is the recipe I use in my diffuser: 5 drops Lemongrass 5 drops Bergamot 5 drops Pink Grapefruit 5 drops Mandarin or Sweet Orange Thanks again! I will be researching the American Cancer Society website this afternoon. Take care & God bless!!
