Guest guest
Hello all, I have planted some calendula flowers and plan on making infused calendula oil in the future. However, now that they are blooming, I see that about half of the plants have pale yellow, almost whitish flowers. The other ones have the deep orange flowers, some with red centers, that I have used in the past to make oil. I am wondering if the pale flowers have the same healing properties as the orange ones, or should I rip them up and plant more orange ones? I thank you in advance for any advice! Best regards, Stephanie Spak PS -- Any special advice about making calendula oil would be welcomed too. I was taught to use the whole flower, semii-dried, but I have heard of others just using the petals. What do other people do?
Guest guest
I use the entire flower head and I don't think the color of flower makes any difference in it's healing powers. I use every blossom I get Paula .......... in Michigan I used to have super powers but my therapist took them away Hello all, I have planted some calendula flowers and plan on making infused calendula oil in the future. What >do other people do? Stephanie, I've always used the blossoms DRY dried, and, when possible, I will take the time to use just the petals. It gives a more intense oil than using the whole blossom. (And the deeper the color of the blossoms you use, the deeper colored the infused oil will be. I suspect the pale blossoms you have will work, but maybe it would help to double infuse. be a shame to waste what you have... maybe infuse first in the light colored ones and finish by infusing with the dark ones?
