Guest guest
Pay attention to botanical names! Just because plants are of the same genus does mean they are chemically identical. Many times the same common name may be used for plants that are from totally different families, not to mention of a different species or genus--one toxic, the other safe. Responsible herbalists--professional or hobbyist--know the botanical name of any plant they would suggest using. Do not confuse yuca root (commonly misspelled as yucca in US grocery stores) which is really Cassava, Manihot esculenta of the Spurge familyand Yucca spp. which is in the Agave family. The root of Yucca spp. is used in soap making. Although I haven't used it for soap, it's leaves make great cordage and the stalks are the easiest wood I've ever used to make fire by friction. hth, Mary Alana
