Guest guest
Holy COW! That's downright scary and makes me glad I never wanted to go into selling EO's. Sure hope this gets straighted out without fines and et al Marge. K On 6/26/06, Marge Clark <marge wrote: > > . > > > -- Cheers! Guest guest
Crikey! That's not good! Hmmm, just " thinking out loud " here ... I wonder if we are to start listing the LD50 on oils that we sell? What about the LC50? Is this exclusively rules for Wintergreen EO or all volatile oils? I wonder if they would give such a notice to a shop selling oils as " curios " . When I worked at the little magick shop many years ago, the sale of comfrey herb was being restricted, but we could still sell it because everything in that shop was sold as a " curio " . Well whatever the case may be, that sux! Please keep us posted Marge. I'm rooting for ya! *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com Marge Clark >some of you know that about three months or so ago I got a visit from a >gentleman from the Consumer Products Safety Organization, asking about our > " oil of wintergreen " > >He bought 7 retail bottles. Guest guest
Well done Marge. I just wish other suppliers would get it through their thick skulls that Wintergreen and birch are NOT essential oils and are NOT natural!!! Orifice reducers don't count as 'childproof/adult friendly' packaging. Our labels already say 'for external use only', 'keep away from children' and a lot of extra warnings on the Wintergreen. I think our problem was that the LABEL doesn't warn against drinking the bottle. we don't SAY 'harmful or poisonous if swallowed'... if swallowed, drink water and call your physician' etc. I made the mistake of under estimating human stupidity, I guess. I have looked at the labels of a LOT of other suppliers. NONE have the basic safety information all of ours do. I strongly suspect that the way the gummint found us was by searching google for 'wintergreen essential oil' FIRST listing is our 'warnings' page about over using the stuff. I spent so much time cautioning folks about its long term use as a pain reliever ... I never THOUGHT to tell 'em don't let your kids drink it. " I should have.
