Guest guest
Hi Marge, Martin, Marcia & Butch & All: This is such an important topic. And we are so lucky the internet is a valuable tool that enables us to share information. Over the years our 'list buds' have provided food for thought, important on goings in our industry, etc. I have taken down the Birch and Wintergreen from my website. However, just for informational purposes .. I contacted one of my bottle suppliers .. Carow ..,. spoke to Ronnie .. they do in fact have a 'Child Resistant Cap' .. the kind you have to push down and turn. Needless to say, it brought a smile to my face.. but then.. I further asked.. but is it also tamper proof .. and no its not. So, sitting here .. I thought .. ok .. for the 'travel to the consumer' bottle I would use the tamper proof caps, and if need be .. attach the Child Resistant Cap. Called my printer.. and we discussed the 'labeling' issue. Short of putting the oils in a box ..(with caution, etc in the box/ on the box, whatever) they can create a small label foldout that can be attached to the bottle. ;o) Ok then, a/ euro dropper, b/ tamper proof cap, c/ Child Resistant Cap attached, d/ fold out label with caution, etc. Wow .. and probably they will find fault with this as well .. you think? Looking forward to your thoughts/ replies. And thank you Marge for alerting us this problem. And Martin thanks for your email.! Rob and I both spent considerable time on the CPSC website and we couldn't find specific labeling requirements, either. I don't suspect we will easily find child proof caps for eurodropper bottles - there's an entrepreneurial idea for someone to run with. I've long worried that safety information that won't fit on our small labels, but is either banded to the bottle or included in a separate flyer when it goes to the customer, wouldn't suffice if it were to come to a legal challenge, so this is a good nudge for all of us to come up with solutions that meet the legal requirements.
