Cinnamon Bark on Babies!!

Hi all,

I was just looking at a website of a potential customer. They were

inquiring about some of my bulk products. Anyway, I found on their site

lots of cool looking products, but when I looked at the ingredients I

couldn't help but gasp. They list several essential oils in the baby care

line and one of them is cinnamon bark. Others include tolu balsam, styrax,

geranium, cedarwood and a couple others I can't remember right now. One of

the products is a balm for babies behind! I feel like I should say

something but what to say and how to say it is not one of my finer

abilities. I was thinking of sending an email to reference " Plant Aromatics "

for one and also Martin's site, Marges site since I know those have pretty

good safety info. Just looking for some help here so I don't miss out on

anything or offend. I'd not want to do that.

Any help would be appreciated.

Margaret

It all depends on volume used, cinnamon bark oil is allowed but only

in a proper cosmetic formulation with buffers. If these people are

small producers then they need to know that cinnamon bark is

dangerous and especially in babies. If their response is negative

then send the information to the below and let them investigate:

Hi Margaret,

Have you already spoken to them by phone? What you can do if they

have made an order is send them a friendly letter passing on the

information. Or you could just call them up and pass it on. So far

I haven't had any problems telling people when they are doing

dangerous practices, many people are pretty open to knowing.

Thanks Martin! I've still not approached them yet, but will do that soon.

This is certainly good information to have.

Thank you Michelle! I've not talked with them, just emails. I'm going to

put some info together to pass onto them this weekend. I appreciate you

sharing the below. :)
