Guest guest
Hi Folks, earthlink.net/article/top?guid=20060717/44bb0b40_3421_13345200 607171656570085 Happy Monday. I'm sure I don't have to tell anyone just about anywhere in the entire US just how hot it is right now coast to coast. I will however do that mom thing that I do (being a list mom and mom to a 6 & 3 yr old I can't help myself and remind everyone to take it easy in the heat, stay hydrated and stay out of the direct sun as much as possible, especially between the hours of 10AM and 4PM, when the sun is most intense. If you feel compelled to work out, do it early in the morning, in the pool or indoors! A cool wet rag or towel draped over the back of the neck can actually keep your body temperature cooler, keep you more comfortable and help prevent heat stroke!!! Drink plenty of fluids - but stay away from alcohol and caffeine, as those are diuretics an will only end up dehydrating you. If you feel that you must indulge in those sort of beverages, be sure to alternate and drink a full cup of water in between each serving of another type of beverage. Basically I'm reminding everyone to use their common sense, take it easy and take care! *Smile* Chris (list mom, in SE TX - hiding in my A/C until - oh - about January http://www.alittleolfactory.com <http://www.alittleolfactory.com/>
Guest guest
Thanks, Chris! This is a good reminder to take it easy in the heat. Also, remember that beer and wine are NOT good substitutes for good ol' H2O (something my boyfriend is heinously guilty of that all the time!)! You need real water, or something like Gatorade which contains electrolytes. Also, when/if you do have to go out in the sun, remember your sunscreen! It may feel a little icky sticky on your skin, but in the long run you'll be happier for it. (My preferred level of sunscreen is " SPF Indoors " !) Oh, and a hat and sunglasses, too! Guest guest
Happy Monday. I'm sure I don't have to tell anyone just about anywhere in the entire US just how hot it is right now coast to coast. [Dave:] Hi, Chris. Sure has been hot in southern CA! It was 107° here on Saturday. I think it was maybe about 100° yesterday, so it’s cooling off a little. Some nice high clouds today. You folks in humid areas really have to watch the hydration. And make sure to add some humectants to your soaps – it’s a good time for honey and castor oil! -- Version: 7.1.394 / Virus Database: 268.10.1/389 - Release 7/14/2006 -- Version: 7.1.394 / Virus Database: 268.10.1/389 - Release 7/14/2006

Guest guest
I was just speaking to my mother in Ontario and it was over 40c, which is way too high for that area. I reminded her to drink water and she is diabetic. She is in her 74th year of life and told her I wanted to keep her around a few more years. But she did not sound that good when she spoke to me so I told her to call a taxi and go to the mall and just sit there in the air conditioning, she does not have ac at home just a fan. She laughed at me so again I reminded her to drink water please. Thanks for the reminder to remind. Barbara
