Guest guest
112 degrees here today. Yes I know, a lot of folks had it hotter. What made it REALLY bad was that just before 2pm (when it was " only " 108 degrees our electricity went out. Didn't come back on until 1220 am. Car was in the Garage, which of course uses electricity to open so couldn't even go somewhere to get out of the heat. Now it's 2am and it's " only " 84. A totally sucky day/evening all around. I hope the rest of you managed to stay cool. Heard about Phoenix, 116. Yech! And St. Louis area, nasty weather and half a million folk with no electricity in sight... Then there's New Orleans... So I s'pose things could have been a hell of a lot worse. Now I'm off to try and sleep in high heat and moderately high humidity. Oh the joys of summer. ;-) K -- Cheers! Guest guest
We're having a heat wave - here in Philadelphia too. Anybody for global warming? What can we do? I do drive a motor vehicle when I have to, bicycle when I can - no air conditioning though, but plenty of fans. Guest guest
I hope the rest of you managed to stay cool. Heard about Phoenix, 116. Yech! [Dave:] It was 115° here yesterday. I had to work outside for a good part of the day. Fortunately it was bone-dry, so it wasn’t so bad. I’d gone outside about a quarter to five in the morning, and off to the east I could see thunderstorms over the mountains. The air was very still and already hot and muggy, so I was kind of dreading the day. But the humidity left when the marine layer burned off, and then it was just a scorcher. I was using a water blaster, so now and then I just pointed the nozzle straight up and stood in the mist. That was great – for about fifteen seconds at a time. Found myself thinking about the old days when I’d go out to the desert by myself for a week or so. I found I actually kind of enjoyed it. Drank over a gallon of water. You gotta just stay hydrated, move kinda slow, wear a hat. -- Version: 7.1.394 / Virus Database: 268.10.3/395 - Release 7/21/2006 -- Version: 7.1.394 / Virus Database: 268.10.3/395 - Release 7/21/2006
Guest guest
Yuck! Same here, too, except " only " 106 degrees and HUMID!!! The whole family was out of the house when the electricity went out...Three of us got home at about the same time, only to learn that no one had house keys, and, like you mentioned, the darn garage door only works on electricity! Luckily the power came back on after 20 or 30 minutes so we weren't stranded too long. I don't know where you live, but I moved to Southern California to get out of the heat and humidity - so this REALLY stinks!!!
