Guest guest
Hi folks, I read something about yarrow being used to repel mosquitos, etc... has anyone done this? Did you use an alcohol based tincture, or a tea, or something else? -Josh
Guest guest
Hi Josh, Here ya go ... (for the record I haven't personally tried it) *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ http://www.herballegacy.com/id34.htm <snipped> Chamomile and yarrow are two of the best insect repellants in the field. Make a tea of either of these and wash the skin with them and insects will avoid you like the plague. This includes flies, mosquitoes, and their ilk. - Dr. Christopher Newsletter Joshua Alexander Hi folks, I read something about yarrow being used to repel mosquitos, etc... has anyone done this? Guest guest
Thanks Chris! I hope it doesn't repel bears... I'm going camping in Guerneville for Lazy Bear Weekend ;-) -Josh >Hi Josh, > >Here ya go ... Guest guest
Do not be tempted to try fresh yarrow on the skin. It is a terrible photosensitiser. Guest guest
Hi Martin, That most certainly is a good thing for folks to remember! Ya know, I find that I don't even need to use the repellant on my skin so much as on my clothing! My spray works just as well it seems just spritzed onto my clothes, hair and shoes, as I get significantly less bites! If I were going to roll in the grass at dusk I might be more inclined to spray it on my skin, but if I'm just standing outside at a neighborhood block party I'll do the clothing spritz ... I even saw at the store last week plastic wrist bands and pins that were scented with citronella oil (and stuff) that were intended for use as a personal insect repellant. I don't know effective those are being small and in just one area on the body. I'm temped to get one just to see! *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com aromamedical2003 Do not be tempted to try fresh yarrow on the skin. It is a terrible photosensitiser.
