Its just one of those phenomenon - some soap sweats when its hot *lol*

;-p

So which of your soaps are sweating in the heat?

A friend of mine told me her soap with Vetiver EO sweats when it gets

hot.

I had a batch of special order soap with Pennyroyal EO in it for a

customer which I made several months back and I just this week noticed

the bar I had kept from that batch was getting sweaty and gross, so I

called the customer, told them to check theirs, and sure enough - hot

sweaty soap - ewwwww. I'll of course be replacing it for them.

I was just curious if any of your soaps sweats too!?!

None of mine are this year....pretty amazing. Since I stopped using vetiver

in my soaps during the summer months, I've had no problems with this.

Hiya Chris,

Most of my soaps were " Sweaty " this weekend. But it is not due to the heat as

much as it is the humidity. It can be 110 with 9% humidity they are dry in

Arizona but if it is 75 and humid then they are slippery LOL

I've been under the impression that the glycerin in the soap is pulled to the

surface by the humidity in the air & that's what appears as " sweaty & gross " .

I've never had that problem. I've heard that some bases can

contribute to this condition, as well as over heating the base

before pouring. About the worse thing I've done is over whip some

natual base and created floating rubber rectangles. LOL

(I'm not using that base again.LOL)

Of course, in this heat, I'd not be shocked at anything that

melted, sweated or just pooped out.

Sweaty soap...any of mine with Patchouli...but then again, I'm doing an

outdoor market. It reabsorbs when I put it back in the box and bring it

inside.

Some of ours soaps will also " sweat " and some depending on what

they're made with get downright soft. We put them in the fridge for a

little while. :)

Actually, glycerin is a humectant. It attracts water. In humid

conditions water that is drawn to the soap from the air and

accumulates on the surface. The sweat is created by the condition of

moisture in the air. Cold process soap can do the same thing in very

humid conditions.

[Dave:] It’s been cooling off lately here – in fact, the last couple days

have been cool and rainy, practically unheard-of in southern CA in July and

August. But a couple weeks ago it was so hot, you could hear the trees

calling the dogs. We had baked potatoes right from the garden. Just pulled

‘em out, rinsed ‘em off and added butter.

We put grapes in the freezer. They're really good after coming in from

outdoors.
